Interior design and workplace strategy services for 18,000 SF San Diego State University Research Foundation office renovation. The original office space accommodated heads-down work for the entire staff. In this new space, only one third of the office was scheduled to be on-site each day, creating space for a new workplace strategy. We met with the SDSU leadership team to discuss their vision, goals and expectations and our renovation produced a new space with hotel desks, private and collaborative workstations and open creative seating. The space consists of one large, open collaboration area with smaller creative neighborhoods containing alternative workspaces. There are 78 heads down work stations for individual work, 16 pod-style workstations, four meeting booths, 20 private offices, 14 creative collaborative spaces and an alternative work lounge extending from the break room out into the open office space.

GSU Convocation Center

Full-service MEP engineering services for a 135,000 SF multi-use facility supporting Georgia State University’s athletic, academic, and community events. Strategically positioned to leverage the site’s natural topography, the center includes dedicated visitor and service access points, integrated stormwater management, and flexible capacity with up to 7,500 guests for commencement ceremonies and 7,200 for basketball games. Mechanical systems include three 300-ton chillers, four 2000-MBH boilers, and a 229-kW electric heating system. Airside systems feature a multi-zone VAV configuration and a combination of Energy Recovery Units and Air Handlers to condition the arena and concourse. A 330,000 CFM smoke exhaust system, powered by twelve roof-mounted fans, ensures life safety and compliance. The electrical design included a 5,000-amp utility service and a 500-kW emergency generator to maintain operational continuity.

Mt. Carmel Barry Hughes Performing Art Center

Architecture and interior design services for the renovation of the 5,000 ft² historic Barry-Hughes Performing Arts Center at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago. The project transformed the 123-year-old building into a modern education and performing arts facility, featuring a 200-seat theater, music rooms, recording studios, and an art room, while preserving its original architectural character through elements like the acoustically isolated “jewel box” structure.

Interior architecture and design services for the 5,000 SF tenant improvement of office space at the South Park Center Building. The office features a mix of formal and informal workspaces. The open office area promotes employee interaction, while phone rooms and a specialized video editing room provide space for employees to focus. The open lounge and kitchen area accommodates the entire office and includes an 11-foot bar, adding a hospitality-like vibe to the space.

Ware Malcomb provided program confirmation, master planning, conceptual design and CUP processing services for a new 80,000 SF K-12 private Christian school. The project included a sports court, gymnasium building, full service cafeteria, 3 tilt-up classrooms, and science & administration buildings. Phased design was used to accommodate operation of the existing school and growth of the campus.
